World’s Smallest DVD Writer
Plextor Corp., a leading maker of optical disc drives, announced Monday what it claims to be the world’s smallest DVD burner for users on the go. The company believes that the part will become popular among users of thin and light laptops. The only difference between products of similar class is a rounded corner and nike mercurial superfly built in power supply unit.
Plextor’s PX 608CU powers itself from USB 2.0 and does not require any external power supply which usually takes additional space in the bag. The device measures by 137(W) x 143(D) x 16mm(H) and weighs about 250 grams, which is typical for devices of the kind. The new device can record CDs (24x) and DVDs (4x DVDR DL, 6x DVD RW, 8x DVDR/RW) as well as read compact discs (24x) and digital video discs (8x). The burner also features 2MB buffer to avoid buffer underrun issues.
